Swift River Music presents Andy May and Friends in concert at Our Place Family Restaurant, Mount Juliet, TN (4066 North Mount Juliet Road Next to Shiloh Music).

6-8 pm, Friday, October 26

Back by popular demand: Andy, with Kenny Malone on percussion, Jeremy Shearer on bass, and a surprise guest or two, will play a friendly mix of original songs and old chestnuts.

For this special show, Andy will be joined by legendary guests: Nashville's own Kenny Malone on percussion, and Massachusetts singer/songwriter Rick Lee on keyboards and banjo, as well as Jeremy Shearer on bass. Come on down, the food is great and the music will be too!

Andy's sets at the Walnut Valley Festival were a special treat this year. In addition to Jeremy's wonderful support on bass, he was joined by Jeff Taylor on accordian, Tim Thompson on guitar, and Bruce Graybill on Mandolin. Be sure to check out the photos of Andy's sets at this year's festival.

This year's Acoustic Kids workshops (photos) were also especially exciting. As always, the make-up of the showcase is determined by who applies. We encourage young players of all levels, who are confident enough in what they do to be able to get up and have a good experience performing, to apply. This year, most of our applicants happened to be very accomplished, so this was "The Year of the Hot Kid Pickers & Singers."

But those of you who enjoy seeing the beginners take the stage and get a taste of performing for a welcoming festival audience weren't disappointed, either. We started out Friday's workshop with some wonderful beginner- and intermediate-level players. It does your heart good to hear these kids. Then, towards the end of Friday's workshop, we presented a sampling of some young pickers and singers who also appeared in Saturday's showcase, when we gave them a chance to really cut loose.

MerleFest 2007

Once again, the Merle's Kids showcases, MerleFest's youth talent showcases, were a joy this year. We had a huge turn-out of young musicians, who played to a crowd that grew as passers-by stopped to see what was going on and stayed to watch. Thanks to all the kids who worked so hard getting ready to perform, the families that support them in their desire to play music, and the audience that welcomed them so warmly. And thanks once again to Larry Skipper for his assistance on and off stage.
